Video Marketing 101: Getting Started

If we could have jumped in a time machine in 2010, and saw what was going on just ten short years later, most of us would have done three things…

1. Bought shares in Tesla

2. Bought some Bitcoin

3. Start a YouTube channel and start posting regular videos

Okay, we may be a little biased on that last one, but when you look at the statistics of where online video started, as early as 2005, we’ve seen an increase from 30,000 viewers per day to 30 million visitors per hour. A world where seeing kids making millions on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok is so normal.

The world of video advertising and marketing has experienced huge growth. 90% of customers say they want to see more videos from brands and businesses in 2022 and beyond. Today’s viewer isn’t watching just one video, they’re hungry for content. Think about it – when you watch your favourite show on your favourite streaming platform (or, have subscriptions to all of them like me) you rarely stop at one episode or movie. No, nowadays it’s perfectly normal to spend your weekend binging content, and like everything in history, this trend has had a huge impact on the way brands need to market themselves. At Vidsta, we work with some of the worlds most engaging brands, unleashing their creative potential and helping capture the attention of their target audience. We create more than 5000 professional videos every year.

Where do you start when it comes to making videos in 2022?

Where do you start?

There are so many types of videos businesses can start creating. From corporate overview videos, event videos and recruitment culture pieces to testimonials, product demo’s and animation explainers – where do you start?

Before you do anything, identify your target audience.

Before you pick up a camera, book a Vidsta shooter or even start thinking about recording – you have to know who you are talking to. It’s crucial. The difference between the way you might speak to a 65 year old woman is different to a 21 year old man. The types of music you’d use would be different, the call-to-action would change – even the pace of the video wouldn’t be the same. Identifying your target audience helps you set the scene for everything else and is the base you build everything on.
